Azure IoT Demo Wi-Fi

This example application connects to the Azure Hub using a Wi-Fi connection

Description

This demonstration connects to the Azure IoT Hub and performs publish/subscribe tasks.

Downloading and building the application

To clone or download these applications from Github, go to the main page of this repository and then click Clone button to clone this repository or download as zip file. This content can also be downloaded using content manager by following these instructions

Path of the application within the repository is apps/iot/azure_iot_demo_wifi/firmware/

To build the application, refer to the following table and open the project using its IDE.

Setting up SAM E54 Xplained Pro Evaluation Kit

  • Connect the Debug USB port on the board to the computer using a micro USB cable
  • Connect the EXT1 extension port on the board to the WINC1500 XPRO

Running the Application

  1. Update the files:
    • /apps/iot/azure_iot_demo_wifi/firmware/src/azure_rtos_demo/sample_azure_iot_embedded_sdk/sample_config.h with your Azure credentials
    • \apps\iot\azure_iot_demo_wifi\firmware\src\app_wifi.c with your AP credentials
  2. Build and program the application using the MPLAB X IDE
  3. The board has a SERCOM configuration:
    1. A virtual COM port will be detected on the computer, when the USB cable is connected to USB-UART connector.
    2. Open a standard terminal application on the computer (like Hyper-terminal or Tera Term) and configure the virtual COM port.
    3. Set the serial baud rate to 115200 baud in the terminal application.
    4. See that the initialization prints on the serial port terminal.
  4. The application will output messages to the console showing connection to the Azure IoT Hub
